Taylor Mail is one of my FAVORITE poets. Many people know him because of his poem, “What Teachers Make” which is inspiring in itself. This poem, “Totally like whatever, you know?” is a fun commentary on, you know, how we like…talk…speak.

1. De-italicize

2. Clarify the intent and draw attention to the call-to-action with paragraph breaks, shorter sentences, clearer instructions and stronger verbs:

“You’ve seen the Holiday Greetings, usually produced by DVIDS, that Soldiers overseas send back to their families at home.

Now, you, Army families, can return the love.

Upload your Holiday Greetings - in photo or video form - to your social media accounts and send us the link at ocpa.osmd@us.army.mil. We’ll post them to U.S. Army social media sites for your Soldier to see.

3. Link more words other than “here” to clarify where the user is going:

“Visit DVIDShub to see their Thanksgiving greetings from Soldiers across the globe.”

4. Use a non-stock Thanksgiving picture. Try a screen grab from one of those Soldier greetings, or Soldiers enjoying a meal, or families reuniting on Thanksgiving day.

Armed and Curious: The Virtual World is Flat

Armed and Curious: The Virtual World is Flat:
“MG Kevin Bergner has created the Online and Social Media Division under the able leadership of LTC (P) Kevin Arata and his team of civilians and great contractors are dreaming up new ways to tell…

Fort Hood at the Center of the "Citizen Journalism" Debate

Fort Hood at the Center of the "Citizen Journalism" Debate:
A capture of a TechCrunch article and an Editors Weblog article.

Bloggasm » The effects of blogging on small business websites

Bloggasm » The effects of blogging on small business websites:
More pages and more frequently updated content = bettter.

YouTube Biz Blog: Connecting citizens and journalists with YouTube Direct

YouTube Biz Blog: Connecting citizens and journalists with YouTube Direct:
Oh man such a smart move for YouTube and I’m so excited to start playing with this!

The Little Rules of Action

The Little Rules of Action:
These are my biggest problems: over-planning, holding meetings, and reading up on things…rather than just DOing.

Link by Link - Refining the Twitter Explosion With GPS - NYTimes.com

Link by Link - Refining the Twitter Explosion With GPS - NYTimes.com:
A fantastic article looking at #FtHood, tweet overload and geolocation. “For the technological optimists, the cures for information overload, in essence, are better filters and greater context.
